TYPHOON ODETTE (2021)

When Typhoon Odette damaged certain parts of the Visayas areas, Vicsal Foundation has responded by donating grocery packs and bottled water to affected families. The distribution has reached 5,143 families in different affected areas in the Visayas such as in Carcar (600 families), Naga(300 families), Danao (580 families), Cebu City (940 families), Cebu Caritas (300 families), Mandaue ( 50 families), Lapu-lapu (450families), Toledo (300 families), Maasin (847 families) and Bacolod (676 families).

COVID-19 (2020)

VSF sent love and appreciation to our frontliners fighting against COVID-19 and reached out to families affected by the pandemic in Luzon and Visayas through different activities. At least 200,000 pcs of facemasks were distributed, food and grocery packs were given to frontliners and to families affected by the pandemic through partner LGUs/organizations and materials for PPE making such as acetate sheets and taffeta cloth were donated to partner organization to facilitate the production of PPEs.

1000 soldiers were aided with first aid kits and bottled water. Some of the items are donated from Nature Spring water, Le Minerale and Mediplast.

Cash assistance to the 1321 families thru Ormoc City Govt and Ormoc Chamber of Commerce.

Super Typhoon Yolanda (2014)

VSF organized the “Bangon Visayas! Tabang Igsoon! Movement” for the victims of the supertyphoon Yolanda.

VSF has received cash and in-kind donations approx Php 80M from local and international benefactors including Australia, Hongkong, Singapore and USA. Employees of company affiliates of Vicsal Development Corporation (MRSGI, Vicsal Investment Inc., Wealthbank, Orient Asia Lending Inc) also donated personal time, cash and in-kind items. Metro Stores were also maximized as Drop-off centers for the in-kind and cash donations from customers. Coinbanks were also being installed.

Proceeds of the cash donations were used to purchase house repair kits, medicines, basic food items and other logistical support to distribute the relief goods to the affected areas.

VSF also partnered with other NGOs for the relief effort operations ,eg. Habitat for Humanity- for the deployment of temporary shelters, Jaycees Cebu, DENR, Phil Natl Redcross, Rotary Club of Cebu, Rotary Club of Australia in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare and Development to address the immediate needs of the typhoon victims.

VSF – PARR PROJECT

VSF is commissioned by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery, Sec. Panfilo Lacson to plan, manage and implement recovery efforts for the Yolanda-stricken areas specifically, Sogod, Borbon, Tuburan of Northern Cebu and San Francisco, Poro, Tudela, Pilar of Camotes Island.

Bohol Earthquake (2013)

VSF gave in-kind donations thru Red Cross Cebu Chapter; Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI); Jaycees; Cebu Centennial Lions Club.

In partnership with CCCI, the distribution of relief goods to Bohol victims was conducted. Five (5) towns namely Balilihan, Buenavista, Calape, Catigbian, Inabanga were the identified areas of CCCI. VSF volunteers were assigned to the town of Buenavista, Bohol. Four mountain barangays were also identified to receive the items namely Cambuhat, Merryland, Cangawa and Ruffo Hill. A total of 700 families benefited the relief operations.
